Just discovered the glass pen that I forgot I had brought on the island of Murano in Italy, last December. Costing something like £3, and fashioned in a single piece of tobacco coloured glass it has to be my favourite looking dip-pen. I must admit, the guy in the shop must have thought I was a bit strange as I was there for near on half an hour  pretending to draw with each pen, however as each was hand-made it was important to pick the one that most comfortable to hold.

Taking the pen for its first doodle felt very good indeed, and although the nib rucks up quite a bit of paper fluff, it does manage to draw beautifully fine details as well as heavy lines. Having not doodled in a while, I’m hoping that this rediscovery will prompt a new era of transitional drawings.
